I’m helping a friend set up a small biodiesel processing setup in his backyard (yes I know that sounds dodgy but he’s got all the permits sorted) and we’re trying to figure out which valve configuration works best for gravity feeding a reaction vessel. I’ve been looking at a few different supplier listings and one of them has a decent photo gallery where you can browse here to see the different fitting options, but honestly the pictures don’t tell me much about thread sizes or whether the standard polyethylene valve can handle warm methanol mixtures without degrading over time. Does anyone here have experience swapping out the original valves for something more chemical resistant like stainless steel or PTFE? I’m wondering if the threaded port is a standard size or if each manufacturer uses their own weird fitting. We’d rather buy the tanks with the right valve from the start instead of modifying them later if possible. Also curious if going with a UN approved tank automatically means better quality valves or if that’s completely unrelated. Cheers.
